JonesDBR worked with Kirksey Architecture on the new San Jacinto College Center for Engineering & Technology in Pasadena, Texas.

The 74,000-square-foot center houses programs in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Biomedical Equipment Repair Technology, Engineering Design Graphics, Electronics, and Computer Information Technology. The new building offers a unique opportunity for new capabilities and updated facilities for these key programs. The building includes flexible space for new technology, instruction on display spaces, collaboration spaces, and multi-functional classrooms.

The main entry lobby features electrochromic glass which tints to manage light, glare, and occupant comfort in the space. The glass is controlled automatically with project-specific inputs, occupancy sensors, and light-level sensors to maximize solar energy and minimize heat and glare. This provides a sustainable way to reduce the lighting and HVAC energy usage and costs of the building.
