JonesDBR joined with PBK Architecture to design the Creekside Center at Lone Star College in Tomball, Texas. This facility is envisioned to be a center for workforce and academic preparation, economic and community development, and a focal point for training for area residents.

The 87,000 square foot, two-story building consists of several learning spaces including administrative quarters, classrooms for core curriculum education and specialty laboratories for Electrical Technology, Petroleum Data, and Cisco network education. The center creates a comfortable atmosphere for learning and studying by uniting the large open library space, study rooms, tutoring rooms, café and open seating corridors in order to encourage collaborative learning.

MEP and Technology engineered designs include a chilled/hot water, 4-pipe, energy efficient HVAC system with air cooled chillers, hot water boilers and centralized air handling units. For maximum occupant comfort, fan powered terminal boxes were designed throughout the facility for temperature control. In addition, energy efficient lighting was planned by utilizing occupancy sensor lighting controls and daylight sensor controls. The plumbing system design was also vital to the facility, which accommodated the complete needs of each dedicated laboratory.

The facility is up-to-date with the latest in technology design. With hard wired computers for reliable and swift network speed for desktop learning, the facility also has the capacity for full wireless technology, which supports laptop and mobile device internet connectivity. Monitored by security cameras and secured by card reader doors, the Creekside Center provides students with a safe and comfortable learning environment.
